Rungwe, Mbeya, Tanzania
Climate change is already happening: temperatures are rising, drought and wildfires are occurring more frequently, rainfall patterns are shifting, and sea levels are rising.
Africa has contributed less than 4% of global CO2 emissions—yet is more vulnerable to climate impacts than any other region.
The IPCC report shows greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. Current plans are not ambitious enough to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels—a threshold scientists believe is necessary to avoid even more catastrophic impacts.
Africa is highly susceptible to droughts, which are linked to decreases in agricultural yields and increases in food prices. Climate finance is essential to build resilience.
We fill the gap of Climate Finance in Africa via MicroFinance for the private and vulnerable communities.
Our overarching goals align with low-carbon, climate-resilient pathways and adaptation outcomes. We focus on three pillars: Keep 1.5°C Alive, Mobilize Support for Climate Solutions, and Foster Partnerships.
We establish the flagship Climate-Smart Microfinance Initiative in Tanzania, using the new Central Bank of Tanzania license to de-risk and scale climate investment. From Tanzania, we replicate and scale proven models across Africa.
